NON-MCO Version (MCO Color Guards Use This Version to Practice Turns)
MCO Version
This exercise is absolutely crucial in developing cadence control and changing approach between the intensity of 30”/24” marching steps to the 4”-maximum distance traveled in a Mark Time step. By quickly being able to change the approach from the larger motion of a march step to the more controlled motion required of the Mark Time, cadence control across all styles of steps will drastically improve!
Sequence:
8 Steps Forward (MCO 7th Step is a Placement Step, 8th Count is to Bring Foot Alongside)
8 Steps Mark Time
You could modify this exercise to include (or utilize) Half Steps as well to further help isolate the cadence control required when transitioning between step styles!
